THE VOID

Lajon comes to the door of his old house. It still remains here with the exception of police tape all around. He brushes it all aside and walks into the house. Not much has changed since he and Francesca died. He walks into their room and many memories welcome him. The day they found this house, they knew they found paradise the moment that they saw it. The house was built in 1921 and it’s still standing. Lajon goes to his dresser and looks at all the pictures. All the times they enjoyed each other’s presence. Then fate decided to intervene and end it all. A beautiful life interrupted by GOD. Their wedding pictures. At X-Mas. And the last picture was a few months before their death, at a restaurant celebrating Lajon's birthday. Lajon takes the pictures and puts them on the bed. He sits down by them and closes his eyes and lets his mind wander. As he thinks of Francesca, he falls into a catatonic state. We see him traveling through his memories and then he stops at one.

Lajon gets a call from his boss and wants him to drive some merchandise to Sterling, Iowa. Francesca finds out and talks to Lajon. Francesca says, "Can I go?" Lajon says, "You sure you want to go babe?" Francesca says, "Yes...I want to see what life on the road is like." Lajon says, "Ok.... Go and pack then...this'll probably take about 5 days." Francesca says, "Ok...I’ll be ready in 10 minutes." 10 minutes later, Lajon and Francesca leave for a trip that may be their last.

Lajon wakes up from his "coma" and feels rage in his eyes.

They say a devil lives in my soul
I promise not to let him take control

He gets up and smashes all the pictures, the "evidence" of their life. Moments later, glass is on the ground along with ripped pictures. The Crow then flies and stops on the counter. The Crow says, "I suppose your ready now?" Lajon gives him an "eat shit" look and then the bird flies out of the house. Lajon follows.

BEGINNING OF THE END

A few hours later, the crow brings Lajon to the Chicago Police Station to see if he can dig up any info on J.L. or anyone else for that matter. The Crow comes to rest on the ledges of the building whilst waiting for Lajon. Lajon looks up at the crow then comes to the window at the front of the building. He looks in to see who currently is in there. He then walks around to the side of the building until he finds a room where someone else is. He looks at the nameplate that reads: Det. Sean Napier. Deciding to wait outside the window until Napier leaves for a reason, The Crow flies onto Aliss' shoulders and waits. Sherri, the receptionist, decides she needs a cup of coffee so then she gets up and goes to the break room. Aliss waits a few seconds to make sure that Sherri will not return soon and then he runs through the front reception area, leaps the window and goes to the back and goes into the janitors closet.

Dispatch sees this in the surveillance room and calls to some of the blues still in the building. They respond with guns drawn and run to the front desk and begin their search from there. They find no visible evidence of anyone being in that area. As they go further into the building, more officers are made aware of this man that jumped the front reception desk and is in the building somewhere.

He waits there for only a short time before he hears a couple of detectives walk by and he over hears them talking about the detective that's on the case and how he's getting too "involved" with it. After they walk by, Lajon gets himself in a better position to find the detective and then when he sees them leave for the washroom, Lajon grabs the files from Napier's desk. He senses movement elsewhere in the building and figures he better find a quick way out. It takes him a few minutes but he manages to find the back door and exit quickly into the night. Napier returns to his desk and notices the files for Lajon, Francesca and JL are gone. Napier then also notices a small group of officers searching for something.

Napier says, “What’s all the fuss about guys?"
The Officer says, “Where the hell you been, Sean? Dispatch notified us of an intruder in the building."
Napier replies, “I just got off the toilet. I left my radio on my desk."

Sean pauses for a moment and then speaks up.

Sean says, “Mind if I check the footage from the camera?"
The Officer says, “Sure..."

Sean and the officer go into the surveillance room and the footage gets cued up. It appears to be a black man in his early 30's with some scars. Sean's mind flashes back to Lajon's picture and he instantly matches the two. He takes his hands and "pseudo" wipes his face.

Sean says, “Well guys I gotta head home and get some rest. I'm sure you guys can handle the situation."
The Officer says, “Just get some rest man. Need someone to talk to, we're here."

Sean goes back to his desk and grabs his things and then he leaves.
