Chapter 5: Heaven Beside You...Hell Within

Nona says, “Is it ever going to stop raining?"

Nona, Andrew and Jon are keeping cover in their shelter, waiting for the ever-going rain to stop.

Andrew replies, “It was very brief, this mornin'. Shoulda got up then, hon. Anyways, I'm going to take a nap, boys and girls."

Andrew goes into a corner and cuddles up with a torn blanket. Nona motions to Jon to lay his head down on her stomach. Jon does so.

Nona says, “So Jon, feel any closer to finding who you are?"
Jon says, “I've just about given up."
Nona says, “I'm sure something will happen. Why don't you go to sleep for a while, and I'll massage your back."

After a few moments, Jon falls asleep. As he ventures into REM, he encounters a dream. He is carrying what looks like a card to somewhere. As he looks at the card for the identification, it’s blurred. And right in front of him is the woman he remembers from his dreams. As the woman looks pleased, words on the card clear up.

To Emily

As he is about to give the card to her, he wakes up.

Nona says, “Did you have a nightmare or something, Jon? You've been sweating for the last few minutes."
Jon, shaken, says, “I don't know."
Jon gets up and says, “I gotta walk around for a few minutes."
Nona says, “Ok."

As Jon walks away, Nona has a concerned look in her eyes. A short time later, Jon comes back.

Nona says, “Looks like you cleared up your mind."
Jon says, “I remember more of that dream now. Don't jump to any conclusions here though."
Nona says, “I promise."

Nona takes Jon's hand and Jon sits down.

Jon says, “I had this dream where I had a card, a valentine card in my hand and I was going towards this strange woman. I couldn’t hear anything in my dream at all. As I looked at the card, I couldn’t read anything. It wasn’t until she was reading it a minute later that I could read what was written on the envelope."
Nona says, “What was on it?"
Jon says, “The name 'Emily'."
Nona says, “Who do you think it is?"
Jon says, “Ex-girlfriend, sister…Maybe cousin. Could be anyone."

Nona looks down and almost a little upset.

Jon asks "You ok?"
Nona says, “Yes, I'm ok. Why, don't I look ok?"
Jon says, “Well, you had a.... Nevermind."

Jon kisses Nona on the lips hoping she will forget what he was about to ask.
