(Interview conducted during a
live chat session)
Hello and let's get to the interview now.
So what prompted you to work with Kubra?
Well, I wanted to do something with the C3
project, so I posted an "ad"
at the ROOM, and Kubra was the first to respond
we talked a bit, and decided to give it a try.
Did she have something for you to look at after you talked a while?
Yeah. We had a story in place, but after we got
started, we decided to change it up a bit.
Would you say it was a lot different from the original idea or concept?
We took some of our favorite parts from the first
idea, and transplanted it
to the new one.
I notice a few scenes that look somewhat familiar, like the pawnshop
scene....was that intentional or just by accident?
The pawnshop scene wasn't intentional, but we kept
it as a homage to the first film.
Now lets get to more of the personal questions...
how long have you been drawing for?
Oh boy....lol
I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil
but I've been drawing like this since about 8th grade
So it would be 15 years or so.
How did you get "absorbed" into the crow?
It was back when the first film came out
I had heard about Brandon's tragic death, and wanted to seethe film
since it was getting so much press.
I loved the movie, and tracked down the collected story of O'Barr's at
a local comic shop
I've been hooked since.
Would you say you ever tried to draw like O'Barr?
My style has been different over the years, but
for this book, I tried to keep
the look as close to the other Crow stories that have been published.
but my usual style is more superhero in nature.
Ever since I've met you and seen your work, it seems to me you like to
put a lot of time into
the muscle/chest?
as in like buff ..
Yeah... It's the superhero syndrome. Make the guys
look huge and buff.
Kinda almost like how O'Barr drew the Crow..
Very true.
Now, I didnt know if this is just me and my waking up but if anyone
else had trouble reading
the story, would you be able to tell us what your guys' story is about?
I guess I could do that.
The Crow's name is Damaen Peace.
His name is in tribute to Forensic Data.
He and his wife were killed by a drug lord.
I don't want to spoil the story, but the reason why Damaen was brought
back
isn't the reason you may think.
The story will fill in the blanks through flashbacks.
We wanted to start the story off after he had been ressurected.
I did notice your tribute at the end there. Was that a last minute
addition?
After Forensic passed away last week, I got in
touch with Kubra and asked if it would
be ok if we changed the Crow's name.
Kubra loved the idea, and so we decided to dedicate the whole book to
him as well.
I think he would of enjoyed that, being the character he probably had
read about for a long time
That's what we figured. We'd help immortalize him
for posterity
as that which he loved.
Would you say you knew Forensic a lot?
Not really a lot. Not as well as Child of
Insanity, tWISTEd, or Kamakazee,
but we had some fun posting together
and we talked in some more serious subjects too.
Well, at least for my sake since I didnt know him as well either, in a
few words, could you describe him?
He was a young guy who had been through some tough
things
in his life, but always had a joke or funny anicdote whenever you were
down.
He never let life get too serious.
I admire him greatly for that.
I'm glad you didnt hold back on talking about him, considering the
'Room has lost a true friend.
I want anyone who sees the book to know that it is
dedicated to someone
who is going to be greatly missed.
And was a major part of our online family.
I agree. Now onto the few final questions..
OK.
Do you look forward to working with Kubra again or any other 'Room
member on another story?
I think Kubra and I can create some other stories.
I am also in different stages of development with two other ROOM
members:
Shadow Obscured, and Aaron Nevar.
Can you give a word or two about their projects or is that classified?
Well, Shadow's isn't really that far along, but it
involes a female Crow.
And Aaron's will be a male Crow, who doesn't come back for the "tried
and true" reasons.
I actually like this interview and I think others will too. Before we
end it,anything you want to add freely?
Let's see.. I'd like to thank all the fans of the
Crow for checking the book out. I hope you don't come looking for me to
lynch.
Hehe. Anything else?
Kubra and I are very honored to be a part of C3
and we hope everyone likes the story.
Well, i defintely look forward to finish reading the story. Thanks for
letting me interview
you.
Thank you for doing it Deaderman. It's been fun.
Talk with you later..
